How hard is it to buy a rotted out nice running car for parts?
I seem to get straight rust free examples with good interior every time.
It didn't look much sitting in a structurally unsound old shed covered with accumulated debris.
Got a mate with a tilt tray to back up, drag it out and dump it in my driveway.
A bit of work with the high pressure water and some WD-40 and I am inside.
It hadn't moved since 1979 and the interior was unmarked and complete.
Clean plugs and points. put some fuel in the carb and a fresh battery and it started up.
A little encouragement to get the clutch to release and a quick lap around the garden, no brakes and the muffler fell apart but seemed to run OK.
It was far to good a car to pull apart so it was re-homed with someone who really wanted to restore it.
A happy outcome but still no spare parts in my shed.
Parts needed for this little lovely
As may be noticed the Californian now resides at Longreach central west Queensland
