Update is that the Mitsubishi V6 and Triton 5 speed are sitting in their new home, the only body cutting required was to extend the opening in the gearbox tunnel slightly rearwards to allow the gear lever to fit.
The lever was sitting to far back but the actual lever is reversible so I removed it turned it 180 degrees and re-installed. Now it bends forward and fall right to hand.
Today's little job has been to do a trial fit of the block hugging headers starting with the LH rear pipe. The Vogue engine bay is just a little tight for the V6 and the stock manifolds will not fit between the steering components.
The rear port on each side being the difficult ones. I have made six manifold plates and am creating the system from 1.5" exhaust tubing.
Making the manifold plates was a little time consuming as I didn't have a 1.5 inch drill or a drill press big enough to manage it. So I made the plates without the big hole then attached them to a jig in my lathe and bored them out to the right size. Fitting the 1.5" pipe exactly.
The rear ones require a very tight 90 degree bend. This can only be achieved by cutting several wedges out of the tube , bending it to the desired shape and welding it up. As a trial fit I have just bent one and had a look to see if it clears.
Also made a point of turning the steering on to full lock to make sure nothing gets in the way.
